Green Deal Assessor

A Green Deal assessment is the first step for consumers to enter into a Green Deal plan, and can only be carried out by an authorised Green Deal Assessor. Following the Green Deal Assessment visit, a Green Deal Advice Report is produced which outlines the energy efficiency measures that can form a basis for the Green Deal Improvement Package.

All authorised Green Deal Assessors are listed on the GD ORB website here.

Green Deal Assessors

A Green Deal Assessor is an Approved organisation that is certified by an accredited Green Deal Certification Body against the Assessor Specification and authorised by the Secretary of State to act as a Green Deal Assessor. A Green Deal Assessor can be a sole trader, but they still must be certified by a Green Deal Certification Body.

A Green Deal Assessor may work independently or be part of a larger, Green Deal Provider organisation.

All Green Deal Assessors must comply with the Assessor Specification and the Green Deal Code of Practice at all times, and ensure that all Green Deal Advisors working on their behalf also comply with the relevant requirements.

Green Deal Advisors

A Green Deal Advisor is an individual employed or contracted by an authorised Green Deal Assessor who visits the property to undertake a Green Deal assessment and make recommendations for energy saving improvements.

Qualified Green Deal Advisors make recommendations for measures that could improve the energy efficiency of the building and will have the technical knowledge, practical competence and skills to provide consumers with the advice they need in order to make informed decisions.

For a Green Deal Advisor to be able to operate under the Green Deal, the individual must:

  • Meet the requirements to be set out in the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Green Deal Advisors
  • Be employed or contracted by an authorised Green Deal Assessor organisation or become certified and authorised Green Deal Assessor as a sole trader.

Becoming a Green Deal Assessor
