Ofgem publishes update to the supplementary guidance on hard-to-treat cavity insulation

On Tuesday 30 September, Ofgem published an update to the supplementary guidance on hard-to-treat cavity insulation.

This update confirms that the additional 5% technical monitoring requirement for relevant HTTC measures will no longer apply for measures installed from 1 October 2014.

The requirement was introduced for relevant measures installed from 1 January 2014 to assure us that HTTC measures delivered under ECO were being installed to cavity walls that met the statutory definition of a ‘hard-to-treat cavity’.

The supplementary guidance said Ofgem would review the requirements periodically and assess whether any of them should be reduced. The results have been reviewed for additional technical monitoring conducted on HTTCs installed between January 2014 and June 2014 and Ofgem are satisfied that the failure level associated with the eligibility of the cavity walls inspected during this period is acceptable. This assures us that these additional checks are no longer required.

Note:

  1. All other requirements for HTTC measures will continue to apply.
  2. Ofgem’s standard technical monitoring requirements will continue to apply.

The supplementary guidance on hard-to-treat cavity insulation is available on the Ofgem website and includes the guidance document, two supporting templates and this update.
